Princeton WannaBe Blog
I'm not a real historian. I didn't grow up in Princeton. I don't have an Ivy League education.
I'm a total Princeton WannaBe.
Still, I gush about loving the heart of Princeton as much as I can!
Today, Only FOREVER AGO, Stosh Was Channeling Little Lord Fauntleroy ....

Look, I'm from the south ....
We take portraits of our children at 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and 1 year. WHY? For the Presidential Library, silly!
(We do original oil paintings of our children during their sixteenth year. WHY? To look cool, silly!)
Being southern has all sorts of secret traditions:
You MUST have homemade pimento cheese on hand at ALL times.
(Homemade butter with chives is taking it too far .... just fyi, lest you try to be a Southern WannaBe)
You MUST know how to make homemade brewed iced tea.
(The secret is a dash of baking soda after it's cooled. TRUE!)
You MUST dress your son like Little Lord Fauntleroy until he decides he wants to look like an eclectic suburban rapper .... who likes the WWE and computers!

When Stosh was my little Lord Fauntleroy, I would have shopped at Luxaby Baby & Child in Palmer Square, for sure!
Now that he's decided his look is an eclectic suburban rapper who likes the WWE and computers ..... I still shop there for the moments that require civility and subtle sophistication .... like Father's Day Brunch!
LOOKING FOR THE PERFECT GIFT FOR DAD ON FATHER'S DAY?
GO TO LUXABY BABY & CHILD AND PICK UP A PRINCETON BLACK SQUIRREL TEE SHIRT FOR DAD! TEES ARE $20 EACH AND A PERCENTAGE OF SALES GOES TO OUR PUBLIC LIBRARY!

Albert Einstein Seen in Princeton! Albert Einstein Seen in Princeton!
Senior Management from Tyco International were SHOCKED to see Albert Einstein on their way to 112 Mercer Street!
Here he is showing us the post from his mailbox!
Albert was THRILLED to hear that the current resident of 112 Mercer Street (also a Nobel Prize Winner) dresses up like him on Halloween night.
Dr. Einstein was sweet to children in Princeton too! All the professors and genius in Princeton make delightful neighbors!
Did you know Tyco International is a MAJOR sponsor to the YWCA Princeton? IT'S TRUE! They give to the ESL LIteracy Program and sponsor the 5K! 5K is on June 22nd if you want to run by and say thank you to them!)

As that Wife on Napoleon Dynamite Would Say, "I Want That" ....

Okay, Jennifer Hawkes' artwork makes me say that out loud!
In April, you can see her pieces in four places:
Everyday in April, in the window of Luxabye Baby & Child in Palmer Square
OR
Friday, April 23 at the Princeton Art Council Pinot to Picasso soiree - there'll be all sorts of incredible art for the silent auction and tons of Princeton RealDeals (a few WannaBees but mostly RealDeals)
OR
Saturday, April 24rth at Communiversity where the downtown Princeton shuts down to have a festival celebrating the Town and the Gown - (I heard Jennifer will have a table there with two other incredible artists)
OR
Sunday, April 25th (the same weekend) as my guest at the Nassau Club on Sunday, April 25 at 3:00pm - Jennifer is having an art showing and wine and cheese reception PLUS you get inside the nation's first private club in America! I KNOW! (Please e:mail me at princetonmimi@gmail.com if you plan to attend. It really is as my guest so I'll have to vouch we're buds!)
The Arts Council of Princeton and Jennifer Hawkes make Princeton feel FRESH, FUN & ALIVE in April!

Why March 4rth is a BIG day in Princeton History .....
Okay, there's a TON of reasons but I picked my TOP THREE because I gotta get to small world and interview tour guides for the summer season ....
#1 - In 1681, King Charles II granted William Penn the royal charter for Penn - (no William Penn, no Princeton (take a tour if I've lost you - for the rest of you ....)
#2 - In 1885, Grover Cleveland was inaugurated as 1st Democratic President since the Civil War - (no Grover Cleveland, one less stop on our awesome tours - we'll show you Grover's old Princeton crib - the current resident is a Republican running for Congress so, yes, we think Grover haunts the place)
#3 - Today, we're in 2010, Princeton Tour Company has been selected as the vendor for WOW! Bus Tours for our Princeton Culture/ Vulture Tour - we'll be bringing bus loads of folks to see the Grounds for Sculpture, Princeton Art Museum, McCarter Theater, Princeton Arts Council and MORE!
(Also a big deal in Princeton history, FDR was inaugurated today. Einstein wrote letters to FDR, from Princeton, regarding the atomic bomb. I posted them on the facebook fan page ..... R U a fan?)
