Princeton WannaBe Blog

I'm not a real historian.   I didn't grow up in Princeton.    I don't have an Ivy League education.

I'm a total Princeton WannaBe.

Still, I gush about loving the heart of Princeton as much as I can!

TYRA BANKS IS HEADED TO PRINCETON!

Well, if Tyra isn't headed here, SHE SHOULD!

WHY?

Because Rouge is holding a fashion walk at the plaza outside the Princeton Public Library and 10% of all Rouge sales will be donated to the Library!

(Tyra Banks would LOVE a retailer that thinks that way so I hope she hears about it and shows up!)

WHEN:  Saturday, September 17th

Noon - 2pm

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY! Weekend Tickets Now For Sale at PJ's Pancake House!

That's right!  The #1 Pancake House on the planet will now be selling tickets to our weekend tours!

(Did you know they're not just a pancake house anymore!  They have expanded their dinner menu to include incredible pasta dishes, salads and all sorts of stuff you WISH they had before!)

Why is PJ's selling our tour tickets?

Because that's the way the new owner, John, runs his restaurants!  He's ALL ABOUT community and collaboration!  If you love the sweet vibe of the merchants in Princeton it's because of folks like the gang at PJ's Pancake House!

Wanna Fall in Love with Princeton? Here You Go:

If you LOVE the Einstein, Michelle and F. Scott signs on Nassau Street, please thank the gang at Landau's!

(They let us put the signs in their alleyway.)

If you love our ghost tours, please thank the guys at Hamilton Jewelers!

(They let us store the equipment nearby.)

Where do we meet for these networking mega-meetings?  On sidewalks and breakrooms, silly!  The best part of running a small business in downtown Princeton is the help you get along the way!  This photo was taken last Fall when Stosh negotiated a daily free apple from Landau's during his first week of school!  They offer Terhune apples during the Fall!

WHY I'M NOT SCARED OF THIS HURRICANE! (I have Princeton Shopping Center!):

Steve and I lived in Florida for a bit so I'm pretty sure I can call myself a genius when it comes to the inside scoop of surviving a hurricane:

1).  Have two batteries for your phone/computer.  You get REALLY SICK of your family when you are cooped up with NO POWER AND NO A/C and you'll need your phone to keep murderous thoughts at bay - (Go to Radio Shack they have plenty)

2).  Go get some facial masks.  It's FUN to give each other facials by candlelight and after you've had NO POWER AND NO A/C for a couple of days, you'll want anything to keep  from smelling like a goat.  (Go to Metropolis Spa & Salon - they have a great hydrating mask at the front desk.  I would get my hair blown out too because you want your hair to look awesome while everyone else looks insane!)

3).  FORGET THE BOOZE - GET INSTANT COFFEE - NOTHING LIKE CAFFEINE WITHDRAWAL WITH NO A/C - (Go to McCaffrey's for the hook up for caffeine and bug spray.  You didn't hear about how bugs LOVE us with NO POWER AND NO A/C?    There is NOTHING worse than being hung over when you are cooped up with your family with NO POWER AND NO A/C)

4).  Get the board games out now so you don't kill yourself trying to find them by candlelight when you have NO POWER and NO A/C

5).   DON'T GET JUST ANY CANDLES, GET REALLY NICE ONES SO YOU'RE HOUSE WITH NO POWER AND NO A/C (Go to Ace Hardware for that and while you are there, grab some tarp and rope and heavy tape.  You're more likely to get a brick through your window than your roof coming off and that s-l-o-w puddling of water inside your home with NO POWER AND NO A/C will drive you insane!  Then to Bon Appetit for some awesome pickled items.  Nothing is better than hard salami, mustard, pickled veggies by candlelight.

Head to Princeton Shopping Center and get all the stuff no one is thinking about getting and make this hurricane some of the best family memories EVER!

Oh - worried about the NO POWER AND NO A/C?  Don't, McCaffrey's has one of the best back up systems on the planet to make sure they don't lose all that premium meat.  When the storm blows over, call over to see if they have AC on and then head over there for more groceries and a little community spirit!
