Princeton WannaBe Blog

I'm not a real historian.   I didn't grow up in Princeton.    I don't have an Ivy League education.

I'm a total Princeton WannaBe.

Still, I gush about loving the heart of Princeton as much as I can!

Einstein Was a Cutie. Turns Out The Folks That Write About Him Are Too!

Here's Shelley Frisch who translated Einstein: A Biography, Juergen Neffe - look closely readers - She did some of that work INSIDE small world coffee!

She'll be headed to the first floor inside Princeton Public Library at 3:00pm on Saturday, March 10th with several other lovable literary luminaries!

  •
  •
  • What about this cutie, Alice Calaprice, who wrote the The Ultimate Quotable Einstein!  She'll be there too:

(Did you know Freeman Dyson has agreed to come to co-sign the Ultimate Quotable Einstein?

This will be the first time they've signed together since they signed a hundred
copies of the second edition of the book in 2000 for a fundraiser for the
Einstein statue!   Since this is their final edition, it may become a
collector's item!  I KNOW!)

Who could resist Josef Eisinger, who wrote Einstein on the Road?

or Robert Shulmann, who wrote Einstein on Politics?

and

Linda Arntzenius who wrote Images of America: Institute for Advanced Study?

And if all those folks weren't enough, Pi Day Princeton kicks off with THE Alan Lightman who wrote Einstein's Dreams!  (Did you know he was a Princeton University graduate, magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa and the first professor at MIT to receive a joint appointment in the sciences and the humanities.PLUS his mom was a volunteer braille reader?  I KNOW!)

PI DAY PRINCETON & GEEK FREAK WEEKEND GETS BIGGER, BETTER & SMARTER EVERY YEAR!

THE PRINCETON PUBLIC LIBRARY WAS THE FIRST TO ENCOURAGE THIS EVENT AND EVERY YEAR THEY SHOCK AND DELIGHT US WITH EVEN MORE PROGRAMMING, EVENT SPACE AND TIME FROM THEIR GIFTED STAFF!

Think this Library takes a nap after Geek Freak Weekend?  NO WAY!  George Dyson, son of Freeman, will be at the Princeton Public Library on March 18th signing his new book, "Turing's Cathedral".

It's a story with John von Neumann and Alan Turing!  I

(In the spring, take a tour and I'll tell you where Neumann's original computer is kept in town, why George got interested in boats AND why his super athletic mom shops in the children's section of stores!)

Doesn't George look a little like Freeman?  LOVE IT!

Albert Einstein Seen in Princeton! Albert Einstein Seen in Princeton!

Senior Management from Tyco International were SHOCKED to see Albert Einstein on their way to 112 Mercer Street!

Here he is showing us the post from his mailbox!

Albert was THRILLED to hear that the current resident of 112 Mercer Street (also a Nobel Prize Winner) dresses up like him on Halloween night.

Dr. Einstein was sweet to children in Princeton too!  All the professors and genius in Princeton make delightful neighbors!

Did you know Tyco International is a MAJOR sponsor to the YWCA Princeton?  IT'S TRUE!  They give to the ESL LIteracy Program and sponsor the 5K!  5K is on June 22nd if you want to run by and say thank you to them!)
