Princeton WannaBe Blog

I'm not a real historian.   I didn't grow up in Princeton.    I don't have an Ivy League education.

I'm a total Princeton WannaBe.

Still, I gush about loving the heart of Princeton as much as I can!

IT'S OFFICIAL. I'M GOD'S FAVORITE FOR SURE!

(Well, maybe not, because I still can't remember how to adjust photos in this blog ....)

ANYHOO ....

Beginning April 7th,  Princeton Tour Company will be starting tours INSIDE the Princeton Univeristy U-Store!  I KNOW!  I get to have a big 'ol sign in their Nassau Street window promoting the tours, tickets will be sold there AND the tour information will be on their website and print ads .... even at every Princeton athletic event!

What do the Landaus think about this?  They love it because the U-Store agreed to stop carrying Einstein items to help distinguish their brand and promote their Einstein Museum.  I KNOW!

(BTW, I'm not really God's favorite but I think merchant collaboration and teamwork like this definitely puts us in the plus column upstairs!!  If you're looking to move a business to Princeton, it's a great place to count on collaboration and creativity!)

Today, Only FOREVER Ago

Today, onlly in 1946, mobster Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel opened The Pink Flamingo Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas,  The grand opening  was a flop and the casino lost $300,000 in the first week of operation.  In two weeks, Bugsy had to shut the place down.  Later, he got more investors and renamed the casino "The Flamingo" after his girlfriend, Virginia Hill,  because she had red hair and long legs.

ANYHOO,

How does this relate to Princeton?

Reason #1:  Victor Gambino lived in Princeton and was an investor in "The Flamingo"!

I KNOW!

Reason #2:  Warren Beatty, who played Bugsy in the popular movie, was best friends with Clinton Kimbrough, who was offered a Creative Writing scholoarship from Princeton University

I KNOW!

Reason #3:  Melissa Darpino, the event planner of the Peacock Inn, planned Emmy events where Annette Benning and Warren Beatty were in attendence!

I KNOW!

(I can't make this stuff up and if you don't believe me or you want to host an event with Melissa at the Peacock Inn, contact her at (609) 924-1707 or mdarpino@peacockinn.com!)

The REAL Secret to ANY Small Business Success! FREE STAFF!!!!

Here's Bella and Shug, my parents.

(Those are sugar sweet names they created when I gave them their only grandson. They are head over heels in love with Stosh and visit us in Princeton 10 days out of every month.   While others would think, "God, that's ALOT of family, I just look at them as FREE STAFF!)

This photo was taken after a planning session about how we're going to handle the final weeks of Ghost Tours, Stosh's scary costume and "school approved" costume and leaving enough time for Steve O to do some metal detecting ...... I swear none of this is made up.

This year will mark the 3rd Halloween of Ghost Tours and, you can imagine, Bella and Shug have plenty of work ahead of them.  Shug's in charge of batteries and Baby Ruth's ..... Bella's in charge of sidewalk promotion ..... Steve O?  He's in charge of Stosh. Be on the look out for our "Lower Pyne Freaky Door"   .... Come by the Hamilton Jewelers building Friday thru Sunday and you'll see how a family business might be just what every family needs to create some life long memories!  (Did you know Hamilton Jewelers has been family owned since 1912?  I KNOW!)

I feel some blog posts might be dedicated to celebrating my "Best Moments in Bella & Shug Elder Abuse" !

ENJOY!

(Please notice Bella's DOUBLE GRIP on the railing of our stairs.  That's mandatory for Bella and Shug going up and down the 36 steps .... God forbid they fall down the steps and get injured .... Then, I'd have to do all this work myself!)
