Princeton WannaBe Blog

I'm not a real historian.   I didn't grow up in Princeton.    I don't have an Ivy League education.

I'm a total Princeton WannaBe.

Still, I gush about loving the heart of Princeton as much as I can!

Need to Make Rent in Princeton? Become a Friend to the Princeton University Art Museum! (what???? Trust me on this one!)

The Princeton Art Museum really IS the social event of the season.  Guests are allowed to enjoy cocktails inside the incredible museum collection and then, for those who know a sound investment, enjoy dinner inside Prospect House.

Yes, dinner is inside the Princeton faculty dining club.  (You read that right - the University dining club .... where Shirley T. has a daily lunch reservation whether she wants it or not .... where Bill Frist told me he saved David Patreus' life .... well, he didn't save David's life inside Prospect, he told me the story there .... this Spring, take a tour and I'll tell you all about how getting shot with an m16 can slow a guy down .... ANYHOO:)

You can see here I invested as a sponsor to the event.

Why would a small business like me invest in Princeton University Art Museum?  Because it WORKS silly!  Princeton's most engaged residents and business leaders wouldn't miss the event and they pour over the Gala booklet to see which product and service providers share their love for the museum.  They know a no cost, world class collection of art that rivals the Metropolitan Museum of Art is an asset to our town. They know the museum raises 30% of its operating budget from events like the Gala and Friend Memberships.  Example:  Last year, next to our table in this photo by Scott Johnson was one of Princeton's most distinguished venture capitalists, a big shot from BlackRock, the Executive Director of the Symphony .... not to mention a woman who didn't have to wear SPANX and still looked great  ....  I KNOW!)

Last year the Museum allowed two journalists to cover the event.  Both have a TON of photos and give you a real feel for the type of upscale-meets-warm-welcome-Gala you hope you'd find in Princeton!

Did you know Friends of the Princeton University Art Museum enjoy advance viewings, day trips to private collections and quarterly cocktails inside the collection?  Yep.  I know, only in Princeton!

Want to mark your calendar for this event?  It's February 2nd!  It's ALWAYS the Saturday night before Super Bowl!  Why?  I have NO IDEA but it's brilliant because I'll NEVER forget the date!

Are pieces of art from local gallery artists auctioned off as part of the fundraising event  or is purchasing a ticket for this event the only fundraising portion?  Because next year our New Jersey movers would love to help transport your fine art purchases home for you.

Pieces of art are not auctioned at this event; however, many guests are collectors and would need your services.  Many guests are also decision makers for corporate relocation service providers.    Your company should consider advertising or attending next year's Gala!

Like Road Trips? PROVE IT!

Just opened my Princeton University Art Museum Day Trip information packet!

Don't know about these?

The best and brightest insiders at the Princeton University Art Museum design Day Trips to nearby places and introduce people like me to world class art collections.

Guess what?  Some day trips are personal collections and you get to meet the owners and artists.  I KNOW!

(Picture me, FOREVER AGO, in Peggy Guggenheim's living room while Man Ray reads the newspaper in the garden.  If you LOVE guided imagery excercizes ..... Peggy summons Man Ray inside to school me on why he abandoned what he called his “Romantic-Expressionist-Cubist” style and adopted a mechanistic, graphic, flattened idiom ... no really, I know what that means now!  Guess what?  Art is not that hard to understand when you go on a Day Trip hosted by Friends of the Princeton University Art Museum!)

Anyhoo, if you are a Contributing Friend of the Princeton University Art Museum you get the mailing earlier than the rest of the planet plus other really cool insider access to the best kept secrets in Princeton:

I Got My First Tattoo!

Here I am with Princeton's up and coming  tattoo professional.  I didn't catch his name but he really was gentle with the sponge application.  In case he needs a reference for Angelina Jolie, he can just share this link.

Photo'd here with Jay, who picked out my tattoo!  I wanted one on the small of my back but Jay convinced me that a tattoo above the neck shows WAY more commitment!    Jay might be one of the most hysterical people I've ever met.  I laugh BEFORE he says anything because I KNOW it's going to be funny.  Insiders say he's writing a play.

Where the heck were we getting tattoos in Princeton?  The Princeton University Art Museum Family Day silly!  Families enjoyed music, scavenger hunts, free pizza and live entertainment.  The PU Art Museum is open 52 weeks a year, FREE and even stays open late on Thursday nights!

Going to Princeton Art Museum makes you want to BE CREATIVE,  TAKE RISKS  and FEEL COOLER than ever!

This artsy family says the Louvre's got NOTHING on Princeton Art Museum!

(No really, if you are in the art world, you recognize them already!  They cannot believe this museum is free and visitors can see collections of works by Degas, Monet, Wharhol with NO LINES!)
