Princeton WannaBe Blog

I'm not a real historian.   I didn't grow up in Princeton.    I don't have an Ivy League education.

I'm a total Princeton WannaBe.

Still, I gush about loving the heart of Princeton as much as I can!

Princeton Black Squirrels are ALL OVER Princeton!

Why does Princeton have black squirrels?

Moses Taylor Pyne was a millionaire financier and major philanthropist to our town and university.

 Legend has it that Pyne brought black and orange squirrels to town;

While the orange squirrels did not survive, the black ones remain as a symbol of his generosity.

In the spirit of Pyne, the gang at PBS donate 5% of their profits to Princeton Public Library.

If you dig the idea, here's where you can get show the love:

Mugs, Decals and Adult/Youth/Infant tees available at

Palmer Square in Luxaby Baby & Child or online at www.princetonblacksquirrel.com

While You Guys Were Relazing at the Memorial Day Parade and Enjoying Reunions....

I was being put to work by the Princeton Black Squirrel gang!

(Here's Steve O and Rob being interviewed by Emily Reeves from Town Topics so be on the lookout on Wednesday!  I can't wait to see Steve O in that gangsta hat!)

(See?  Here I am being stylist to the STARS before the big interview!)

Our insiders say there is going to be a Princeton Black Squirrel photo shoot on Tuesday in downtown Princeton!

Be on the lookout for some Princeton Greats to help put Princeton's town-gown mascot on the map!

(If you want your own swag, head to Luxaby Baby & Child in Palmer Square - across from Lindt chocolate - under Brooke Shields apartment - down from bent spoon)

Late addition to this post:  This is a shot of the Town Topics Talk of the Town:

The Question of the Week was:  "With the recent beaver episode on everyone's minds, we wondered about other experiences people have had with Princeton wildlife.  Tell us yours."

Steve O:  "A black squirrel smiled at me yesterday."

Rob:  "A black squirrel winked at me - a little town spirit."

SO CUTE!
