Princeton WannaBe Blog

I'm not a real historian.   I didn't grow up in Princeton.    I don't have an Ivy League education.

I'm a total Princeton WannaBe.

Still, I gush about loving the heart of Princeton as much as I can!

WHY AM I KISSING THE TRIUMPH BREWING COMPANY BEER GENIUS?????

HE'S CREATED A BLACK SQUIRREL ALE!

The barrel tapping is October 15th at 6pm then the beer will be on tap until it runs out!!!!!

You guys know I ADORE interviewing genius in Princeton.  Here's a sniglet of my HARD HITTING interviews with the ale alchemist:

ME:  Will you show me where you brew the black squirrel brew?

BEER GENIUS;  In a secret tree house in Princeton.

ME:  Why now?

BEER GENIUS:  Why not?

ME:  Can you give me an idea what it will taste like?

BEER GENIUS:  Stylistically it's a porter which is a dark beer .... I've added subtle hazelnut and chestnut to provide full aroma and flavor .... it's hand pumped for less carbonation which is consistent with the English style ......"

ME:  If my friends have a nut allergy is this the PERFECT chance to try their EpiPen?

BEER GENIUS:  What?  (short pause then BIG GRIN)  Yes, it's the perfect chance to try out an EpiPen.

(Then he giggled.  I got him to giggle.  I swear I got the Triumph Brewing Company Brew Genius giggling!)

EVERYONE IS INVITED TO THE BARREL TAPPING ON OCTOBER 15TH AT 6PM

SERIOUSLY? CAN PRINCETON DELIGHT ME EVEN MORE! YES, THEY CAN!

YES!

THE CONSOLIDATED PRINCETON POLICE BADGES HAVE GEORGE WASHINGTON RIDING HIS HORSE ON IT!

(I think the soldiers on the Battlefield would be THRILLED with this!  When George personally led them in the center of the Princeton Battlefield he said, "Parade with me my brave fellows, we will have them shortly!")

PRINCETON IS SUCH A SAFE TOWN BUT THESE BADGES MAKE ME FEEL SAFER!

DON'T MISS THIS ONCE IN A LIFETIME EVENT! (really, i mean it!)

People have always told us Princeton Battlefield was haunted .....

Now, it's time to know the truth.....

Be warned this is an unsettling tour.  It's the site of one of the most important battles in the United States and, per usual, our guides are not holding back any of the facts.

 $20 Per Person

This isn't a "jump out and scare you" experience.  This is a once in a lifetime experience to be on the most significant American battlefields after dark using authentic EMF Meters, Dowsing Rods and Therma-Meters to investigate the site.  The event is designed to be suitable for ages 9yrs - 99 yrs.

We start in the front yard of the Thomas Clarke house where unexplained apparitions and paranormal activity have been reported.   Next, we walk through Princeton Battlefield where tour guides use state of the art audio systems and iPads to tell the chronological story and descriptions of the horrors of war, including  the shootings, bayonettings, beatings, cannon fire and screams of both men and horses shot during the battle.  Guests are allowed to use our official ghost hunting equipment such as EMF Meters, dowsing rods, therma-meters and EVP Recorders throughout the walk on the battlefield.

For believers, you'll be shocked what you will feel on a tour.  For non-believers, expect plenty of historical information regarding the battle and Revolutionary War to keep you engaged throughout the hour and half experience.

Valuable discounts to nearby restaurants and shopping will be on your e-ticket and redeemable the day of the tour!

This tour begins and ends at Princeton Battlefield at 500 Mercer Road, Princeton, NJ 08540.

Today, Only FOREVER AGO .....

So, in 1829, James Smithson died in Italy.

(He was a member of the Royal Society of London and was an eager scientist .... clearly, a snappy dresser too ....)

Anyhoo, he wanted his wealth to be used to promote knowledge.

James had never seen America but he willed his entire estate to the United States of America.

(He even had his body interred in a tomb inside the building.  I KNOW!)

Did you know Princeton University's collections are routinely loaned to the Smithsonian to promote knowledge?  TRUE!

Did you know you can enjoy many of these collections FOR FREE at the Princeton University Art Museum?  It stays open late on Thursdays so you should go over and check it out!

Wanna Know the Traits of a Princeton Tiger? Here You Go:

Connor Diamond-Yauman is a poster child for a Princeton Tiger.

He's BRAVE!

So brave, he challenged David Patreus to a push up challenge!  I KNOW!

He's ACCOMPLISHED!

So accomplished, he won the Moses Taylor Pyne award!

(This is a big deal .... I'll let you google it on your own ...)

He's BUILT FOR FAME!

After graduation, he was invited to compete in the Amazing Race with his best friend Jonathan. UBELIEVABLE!

(Yes, I've applied for that show .... calls were never returned ... ANYHOO ....)

He's GENEROUS!

So generous, he knew my son Stosh wanted a funny photo of Tina Fey filming on Princeton University campus so he made sure he got one!!

Connor is a WORLD CLASS, ONE OF A KIND PERSON and so is EVERY Princeton Tiger I've met at Princeton University!
