Princeton WannaBe Blog

I'm not a real historian.   I didn't grow up in Princeton.    I don't have an Ivy League education.

I'm a total Princeton WannaBe.

Still, I gush about loving the heart of Princeton as much as I can!

Just When I was Thinking of Dressing as a Minotaur This Halloween .....

The role is already taken ......

at McCarter Theater!  The super talented MEGA STAR Mariann Mayberry plays the sister to the minotuar and Phaedra in Phaedra Backwards!

(Here she is CLEARLY IN NEED OF HER SIBLING'S OTHER HALF in front of PJ’s surviving the October blizzard of Princeton!)

Did you know she was nominated for a Joseph Jefferson Award for Actress in a Supporting Role in a Play for Time of My Life, and again for Actress in a Principal Role in a Play for Hysteria, directed by John Malkovich?  TRUE!

What?  McCarter has a world premiere with a minotaur?

How can ANYONE be believable as a minotaur?

Here's a behind the stage pic taken by Mariann last week:

(Call me crazy, but I'm a BELIEVER!)

The REAL Secret to ANY Small Business Success! FREE STAFF!!!!

Here's Bella and Shug, my parents.

(Those are sugar sweet names they created when I gave them their only grandson. They are head over heels in love with Stosh and visit us in Princeton 10 days out of every month.   While others would think, "God, that's ALOT of family, I just look at them as FREE STAFF!)

This photo was taken after a planning session about how we're going to handle the final weeks of Ghost Tours, Stosh's scary costume and "school approved" costume and leaving enough time for Steve O to do some metal detecting ...... I swear none of this is made up.

This year will mark the 3rd Halloween of Ghost Tours and, you can imagine, Bella and Shug have plenty of work ahead of them.  Shug's in charge of batteries and Baby Ruth's ..... Bella's in charge of sidewalk promotion ..... Steve O?  He's in charge of Stosh. Be on the look out for our "Lower Pyne Freaky Door"   .... Come by the Hamilton Jewelers building Friday thru Sunday and you'll see how a family business might be just what every family needs to create some life long memories!  (Did you know Hamilton Jewelers has been family owned since 1912?  I KNOW!)

I feel some blog posts might be dedicated to celebrating my "Best Moments in Bella & Shug Elder Abuse" !

ENJOY!

(Please notice Bella's DOUBLE GRIP on the railing of our stairs.  That's mandatory for Bella and Shug going up and down the 36 steps .... God forbid they fall down the steps and get injured .... Then, I'd have to do all this work myself!)

Back Then and Today in History ..... (you can't make this up!)

WAY BACK THEN, Magellen discovered a waterway between the Pacific and Atlantic oceans.  Later, about 300 years later, Edison tested the first light bulb .... 52 years ago the Guggenheim Museum opened in New York City ....

TODAY is Kim Kardashian's 31st birthday.

I KNOW!

It's also the anniversary of the birthday of Alfred Nobel was on born in 1833

He worked in his father's arms factory and experimented with explosives, inventing dynamite--which made nitroglycerin safe enough to be useful--and several other innovations. Nobel eventually built more than 90 factories manufacturing explosives and ammunition.

In 1896 he used his fortune to establish the Nobel Prizes.

Wonder if Kim is planning to start one of the most prestigious academic award programs in history ......... I hope so!

Think Princeton is Full Yellow Dog Democrats? .... Well, They Are But They're Breaking Ranks During The Upcoming Election!

Did you hear about the TIDAL WAVE of PRINCETON DEMOCRATS LOOKING TO ELECT REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE JILL JACHERA AS BOROUGH MAYOR ON NOVEMBER 8TH?

TRUE!

(Guess what?  They're SO sparkly!  Here I am with Princeton Game Changers Phyllis Marchand and Judy Scheide ...... I KNOW!)

Someone caught the moment Mrs. Scheide told me her lovely Princeton garden was once a haven for Princeton nudists!

TRUE!

The naked truth is Princeton Democrats are putting Princeton before Party during the November 8th election.

Did you know It's not about being sparkly in Princeton .... it's about being SMART!

Die hard democrats and left-leaning independents have logical reasons to vote for Jill.

She’s best suited to lead Princeton given her experience in leadership and negotiation.

This election, it's not about party ... it's about policy, pragmatism, practical politics, and Princeton.)

Jill Jachera is  FOR consolidation, she's FOR working collaboratively with the University and Princeton businesses.

Her take on local politics is going to be COMPLETELY REVOLUTIONARY!

Today Only FOREVER AGO,

Today in history was the first train robbery in America!  Yes, in 1866 the Reno gang were the first to stop a moving train in Indiana and grab the goods ....

Ever wonder when the LAST train robbery happened?

It occured on our very own DINKY!  I KNOW!

Princeton University prankster, George Bunn (from the great class of 1963), along with three buds, dressed up like cowboys and rode horses down to the Dinky train tracks.  The boys  "stole" dates for their lawn parties and rode back through campus to listen to Bo Didley!!  (You can't make this up.  Go ahead and Google it .... last train robbery in America ..... you'll see George Bunn did ALOT more than rob trains ..... something about a pet ocelet and a bull dozer ..... ANYHOO!)

Photo'd here is Stosh's uber cool Princeton Regional School Riverside elementary principal!  He's dressed as a cowboy during last year's Halloween parade.

Today, ONLY FOREVER AGO, South Dakota made a BOLD move to increase tourism!

Today, only in 1927, Gutzon Borglum started sculpting Mount Rushmore in South Dakota.

Mount Rushmore was the idea of an historian named Doane Robinson who was looking for a way to attract more tourists to his state!

TRUE!

Did you know the same sculptor was commissioned by Princeton University?

TRUE!

(Take a tour and we'll show you where his handiwork is located!)

Did you know now, Mount Rushmore attracts over two million visitors per year and tourism is now the second leading industry for the State?

TRUE!
