Happy Birthday Christopher Robin!

Ok, TODAY, August 21st……write this down …… it’s Christopher Robin’s birthday! After I found out this WAY UNDER THE RADAR anniversary, I decided to see if Princeton had any ties to A.A. Milne ……Does it? Of course it does!
Princeton Graduate, Frederick Crews, Class of 1958. Crews and his classmates put on an English department play, whose theme was the "The Pooh MLA," , a pun on the acronym of the Modern Language Association . Pretty much, the play is all about “pay back” when the University students had been writing their little hearts out only to have professors “critique” with abandon
Borrowing from Milne's exegetical aegis, students spoofed their professors' critical approaches and personal mannerisms….. I can only imagine the spoofs…. One professor a self-important pedant (Owl), another an  obnoxious organizer (Rabbit), and so forth . In the 1990’s, retired Crews wrote Postmodern Pooh where Crews employed the same conceit exposing contemporary literary critics – It’s hysterical to read if you can have an open mind about your beloved Pooh & Piglet!
Off to give a Literary Greats tour where I'll give my watered down definition of exegetical aegis!
